Why Study in London?

Why Study in London?

London has long been the backdrop for some of the most celebrated Oscar-winning films, from The Iron Lady to The King’s Speech. It has also shaped the landscape of television, producing global sensations like The X Factor and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, alongside acclaimed scripted dramas such as Sherlock, Downton Abbey, Bridgerton, and The Crown.

But London’s influence doesn’t stop at film and TV. The city is a powerhouse for video games, animation, and VFX, home to some of the industry’s most iconic creations. From Tomb Raider and the Batman: Arkham series to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, London continues to drive innovation and define the future of interactive entertainment.

London is a global epicentre for screen culture, hosting over 50 film festivals each year and boasting a rich network of art-house cinemas that showcase everything from cutting-edge indie films to international blockbusters. The city’s cinematic influence extends beyond the screen, bringing together filmmakers, critics, and audiences at world-renowned events like the BFI London Film Festival and Raindance Film Festival, celebrating both established and emerging talent.

But London’s creative energy doesn’t stop at film. It is also a powerhouse for video games, animation, and visual effects, driving innovation across interactive and immersive media. The city plays host to major industry events like the London Games Festival and EGX London, where global gaming leaders, developers, and fans come together to shape the future of the industry. Meanwhile, the world of animation and VFX thrives at events such as the London International Animation Festival and London Tech Week, where industry professionals gather to explore the latest advancements in digital storytelling.

From film premieres to gaming showcases, London is a creative hub where storytelling in all forms is celebrated, redefined, and pushed to new heights.

The capital is a great place to find work in the digital and screen industries, with the UK’s largest film studios based either within or in easy reach of London. These include Warner Bros. Leavesden, Pinewood, Shepperton, Longcross, Elstree, and 3 Mills Studios.

World-class games studios like Framestore and Double Negative offer unparalleled career opportunities for games students, while BAFTA-winning animation studios like Blue Zoo also call London home.

London is easily one of the most diverse cities in the world.

More than 300 languages are spoken here, with a variety of cultures and communities living side by side. As a student in London, you’ll get to experience food, art, and music from across the globe.

Ealing is a lively, scenic area with something for everyone.

The area is known for its Ealing Summer Festivals, celebrating music, comedy, and cuisine, as well as the Ealing Project cinema.

Moreover, Ealing is one of London’s greenest boroughs. Ealing Studios overlooks Walpole Park’s 28 acres of Grade II-listed grounds, and the Royal Botanical Gardens – a UNESCO World Heritage site – is just a short bus ride away.

London is an extremely well-connected city. In fact, reaching Ealing has become easier than ever with the introduction of the Elizabeth Line.

The borough is also 25 minutes from Oxford Circus on the Central line, and just 10 minutes from Paddington station, where you can get the train to other areas of the city and the UK.
