BA Screen Acting student, Aline Amike, will feature as part of this year’s Berlinale programme as the leading role of Minimals in a Titanic World.
This is the second year that Aline is involved with activity at the Berlinale, following her participation in the Berlinale Talents Acting Studio last year. As part of the programme, Aline attended workshops by leading movement directors and acting coaches, Jean-Louis Rodrigue and Kristof Konrad.
Minimals in a Titanic World is the debut feature by Rwandan filmmaker Philbert Aimé Mbabazi Sharangabo. In her role, Aline portrays the central character, Anita, a dancer and aspiring musician.
The film, set in the Rwandan capital Kigali, follows Anita after she leaves prison after being let off with a warning for aggression. After learning of the sudden death of her boyfriend, she finds comfort in her boyfriend’s roommate, Shema.
Aline said: ”Minimals in a Titanic World is a deeply moving exploration of love, loss, and self-discovery, and I’m honored to be part of it. Huge gratitude to Philbert, Imitana Productions and the entire team for their vision and dedication. I’m very excited for you all to experience this amazing story, and also curious to see how my interpretation of the character translates.”
Minimals in a Titanic World will have its world premiere in the Forum section of the festival on 19th February. Please see here for more details.
