Nick Rodriguez
Dean of Games and Creative Technology
Nick’s diverse career spans over two decades in the games industry, ranging from early PC games to collaborations with major publishers. He has worked on projects like Croc and Alien Resurrection, and led a development studio that specialises in music and party games.
With his substantial knowledge and infectious enthusiasm for games creation, Nick is now an established academic, committed to passing on his experience and skills to the next generation. His emphasis on balancing technical proficiency with creative expression permeates everything we do at MetStudios, preparing our students for the evolving industry and helping them fulfil their creative potential.
“Play is a fundamental human activity. It’s not the opposite of work. In fact, play and work are not mutually exclusive. I believe that play is closely linked to work. People often assume that playing isn’t working, but it absolutely is. Being playful and thinking playfully are at the core of design, concept development, and creative practice.”

With over 15 years of experience spanning games, art installations, and educational projects, Enrique is a champion of inclusive learning, and their years of experience and very obvious passion for the craft make them an inspiring figure for our students in Berlin.
“Sometimes I can’t even sleep at the thought of all the extra-curricular activities, events and networking opportunities with industry people that we are continually preparing for the students!
“I can say that this is my dream job; I love what I do. All the people who are interested in studying, learning and growing with us can be sure that they will have one of the best experiences of their life.”

Rosemary Chalmers
Head of School, MetStudios Brighton
Rosemary’s unique career blends concept art and anthrozoology, with particular expertise in creature design. She has pioneered groundbreaking educational programmes, including the world’s first MA in Creature Design, and collaborated on eco-educational games like Ecogon.
Rose’s teaching philosophy is all about immersive, experiential learning, and creating industry-simulated environments. Rose is big on the importance of inclusivity and resilience in game design education, so students are thoroughly prepared to thrive in the industry.
“Working as both a designer and educator, I’ve seen how technical and creative skills are deeply interwoven. This dual experience has taught me that creativity thrives with technical precision, so I emphasise foundational technical skills in my teaching, ensuring students can bring their imaginative ideas to life effectively.”

Dr Amrinder Singh Romana
Head of School, MetStudios London
With over two decades in animation, game development, and immersive media, Amrinder is all about the power of digital storytelling. His expertise spans photorealistic facial animation, procedural storytelling, motion capture, and real-time virtual production. His aim is to ignite students’ imaginations and integrate technology with storytelling, fostering an environment of innovation that will empower students to break new ground in the creative industries.
“Whatever you do, don’t wait for someone else to give you permission: create. Take risks, experiment, push boundaries – make things happen, even if the road ahead isn’t yet clear.
“Take initiative. If you want to work on a project, start one. If you’re passionate about a new technique, learn it. If you want to collaborate, reach out. You’ve got to be bold and self-driven with your creativity and with putting yourself out there.”

Alec Chalmers
Course Leader, Games Art and Technology
Alec has contributed to renowned titles like the Sniper Elite series and collaborated with Blue Sky Studios on Ice Age projects. As a game developer, Alec’s passion for worldbuilding led him to develop the world’s first MA in the craft, with a focus on immersive and cohesive universe creation.
“These are creative careers, not just technical ones. While technical skills are crucial, my approach emphasises cultivating creativity through exploration, ideation, and experimentation.
“We provide students with a strong foundation in both artistic principles and technical tools, but I ensure that the focus remains on using these tools to express their ideas. We encourage problem-solving and pushing boundaries, giving students the freedom to discover their unique voice while developing the skills they need to realise it.”
